Greatness

by Bridget   Mar 20, 2005

I reworded some of the text in the book Great Gatsby, so this is not original, just a spin on it!

One autumn night
They were walking down the streets
As the autumn leaves fell all around them.
They came to a clearing of the trees
That was illuminated by the stark moonlight.
It was cool that night
There seemed to be that mysterious excitement
That comes about in the changing of the times.
The quiet lights in surrounding houses hummed,
And there was a stir and bustle among the stars.
They knew of the earthmoving event that was to follow.
As he leaned in to her,
His heart beat faster and faster.
All he saw was her white face coming up to his own.
He knew then that when he stole this kiss,
His mind would never romp again like the mind of God.
He paused and listened for a moment longer,
To the tuning fork that had been struck upon a star.
Then, he kissed her.
At his lips’ touch
She blossomed for him like a flower
And the incarnation
Was
Complete.
