One Hand

by Miko   Mar 22, 2005

They turn their heads
as she walks by
neglected and discouraged
as her life passes on

Shes told it will get better
but she knows it wont
she cries herself to sleep
even in her dreams, shes alone

In the middle of the night
she sneaks to the balcony
rope in one hand
she ties it to the post

Tired of life she leans forth
the loop around her neck
all goes silent in the broken house
as she leaps off the edge

All awake to mothers scream
and all rush to see
shes still hanging on
with one hand on the rope

She left a note in her pocket
it had mom on the front, it said
"I'm sorry, but as you wanted,
I'm still hanging on, with one hand"

How great that ending was. I love sarcastic teens! Read some of my stuff if you ever get the chance.
