The day my heart froze over

Three times since, and three times then,
Three times to realize I can't win.
And now I see it's three strikes out,
There's nothing left to care about.
For me, caring brings only pain,
I cannot take that risk again.
And so, I'll hide my love away,
And save it for a future day,
A day in many, many years,
When time has dried up all my tears.
The day I find someone who cares,
Who will be there through my despair.
And though you three have broken trust,
In my heart there always will be "us."
But on the day the third strike dawned,
I chose that day to not go on.
Today's the day, in mind I chose,
To love no more, my heart has froze.
