On the edge

by katie!   Mar 23, 2005

Standing on the edge of the cliff, waiting, waiting
Should I leave my past behind
And take a jump into these dark waters.
A final deliverance from my mind

Will I die quickly or slowly on the pointed rocks
Will I rot away never to be found
My heart rate quickens, almost jumping from my chest
My eyes positioned straight at the ground

As I run and I jump, one last thought hits me
jumping into my head as I plummet down
It dissapears as my back smashes against the cliff
Dissolving all thoughts but pain in my body does pound

Broken and beaten I hit the sea, cold and dark
Ghosts of past suicide pull my unconcious person in
Water cascading into my punctured lungs
As I finish commiting this final sin

Very well written poem, paints a strong (if not unpleasant) picture. 5/5
