A little girl

A bright, happy, friendly girl
With golden wispy hair
She skipped carelessly through life
Knowing nothing of despair

A little girl so clever
She made her teachers smile
Knowledge made her content
Laughing all the while

A pretty girl so loved
And cared for by her friends
Always joking being happy
No longing for the end

A small girl being picked on
Working too hard they said
So eventually she stopped caring
Let all thoughts leave her head

A little girl so lonely
Her best friend went away
She saw her with that other girl
Dreaded what she would say

Just one girl being teased
About being such a geek
Counting down the days
Until the end of the week

A small girl so afraid now
Of what her “friends” would think
All her happy feelings
Disappeared in a blink

A young girl so quiet
Always feeling so alone
Somebody who trembled
As she picked up the phone

A growing girl now leaving
All that she trusted then
A brand new chance to change
To start her life again

A frightened girl so nervous
But still she couldn't wait
For a different life to begin
As she walked through the gates

A happy girl once more
With a smile upon her face
A girl with so much courage
As she had won the race

A girl with no more feelings
So tired by what she saw
Same routine each day
Saddened yet once more

A sad girl who couldn’t feel
Who cried freely in the rain
A never ending circle
So now she turned to pain

A girl so depressed now
Feelings couldn’t be contained
So she let them take over
The darkness she knew reigned

A little girl so pitiful
Found bleeding in her room
But what they didn’t see
Was that she lay awake in her tomb.
