The woman stretched out her hand slowly, "My name is Natalie. I’m Lily’s roommate. Lily—well, I know what she’s doing. She, she’s trying to get me out of our apartment. She’s nervous, being around a Vampire…having one living with her."
Jack stared, his eyes popping out of his head. "Wha-What? You’re a vampire?!"
Natalie smiled, "I know, big surprise…actually, I’m a half Vamp. I can go out in daylight and what not. But I still have fangs…" she dropped fang, they were short, only about 4 inches, but they were still fangs. "I’m a ‘day-walker’ Vamp. You know, when a mortal and a Vamp mate, you get a day-walker. Lily didn’t know…until about two months ago. I got drunk…and I accidentally dropped fang, I have never done that around a full blooded human, but hey, I can’t hold my liquor, what can I say."
"A day-walker…but, the Neteru—there is not one, she turned. And you can’t have a day-walker without a Neteru."
Natalie shrugged, she looked like a full blooded Vampire. Her eyes were dark as was her skin, and hair, which was a mass of curls and brushed her thin shoulders. "Yeah well, I have always been a mystery. I was brought before the Council when I was born. They had no idea what was going on. They had—like you never heard of a Vamp and a mortal mating, and then producing an offspring. Not without the Neteru. Who knows. But that is besides the point. My guess is that Lily brought you here to try and get me out of the house. I bet she thought that with a…" she looked him over her eyes judging him, "A master vamp—am I right?" Jack nodded, "Yeah, I am a Master…actually, if Carlos* and his mate get blown up by the…uh, issues going on right now, then I am going to join the Council in his place."
Natalie nodded, "Impressive…but anyway, my guess is that she thought that you would whisk me away and she wouldn’t have to deal with a vampire, even a halfling like me."
*Carlos, one of the main characters in Vampire Huntress Legend. The Neteru Idea comes from that series as well. Ahh, how I so admire L.A. Banks-senpai. Please, go read Aht series! It’s amazing…but, the whole concept of this story isn’t about Carlos and Damali and the end of the days…I just used some of Banks’ concepts…alrighty…vote and comment!*
