Carla's Pictures

by ♥-Sharon Ardern-♥   Mar 24, 2005

She was a wreck, completely lost
Abandoned by her friends and family
She spoke of her pain at great cost
She tried to be open, but they couldn't see

Now she is alone, drawing pictures of death
Scarring up her arms and legs every day
Wishing to take just one last breath
Wishing she could just fade away

What is there in life for someone
Who has nothing to give
The fragile shadow she has become
Sees no reason to live

She curls up, never speaking again
Words … they caused her to fall
Left her with even more pain
There's no one to see and no one to call

So her mouth stays shut, but her hand
It draws pictures so morbidly fascinating
Delicate and graceful she draws to understand
Why she's still sat there waiting

When death seems so good, so right
If death seems so perfect, why does she stay?
She could easily just end her life tonight
Push the blade in and watch life slip away

Her pictures cover her wall
It's like she lives in different world now
The pictures tell the story of her fall
Telling when, why and how

The story board of her short life
From the first time she cried
To every last bit of strife
It's all there, except her suicide

An event she feels would complete
Her sad and bitter tale
She wants to admit defeat
Wants to admit she could only ever fail

I don't know how to explain to you
How she’s still alive today
But she lives, and her story is true
She never took her life away

She still has her pictures with her
She looks at them and looks at who she was then
And knows she has to learn to forgive her
For refusing to see the light again and again

Now it's still hard sometimes to make it through
But she looks at her pictures and knows
That surviving is something any one can do
You just have to keep breathing until the darkness goes.
