When No One Looks

People smile and wave as i pass by
shake the hand of every person who says hi

i walk with confidence and a large smile
a fake a shame, pretending this all the while

when i get home, i put down my books and sit at my desk
i think of how my life became a mess

all of the abuse, insults,and the lies
the pain no one knows begins to rise

i feel something jerking in my eye
with no expression in my face i begin to cry

its gone, the smile and confidence that the pain took
this part i never show in public, when no body looks
