My Little Cut

by Emma Carnage   Mar 26, 2005

My little cut
My two little cuts
My three little cuts
Each beautiful
Each different
Each the same.

One barely noticeable
Right on my hand
Deep red in the center
Puffy and white around the red
Smooth and pink around the white
Like a valentine card
So little
So perfect
It says so much
My little cut.

One old cut
Now it’s a scar
On my inner ankle
So no one will see
My long tan scar
It sticks slightly out
Like a tiny hill of scar tissue
It’s been reopened countless times
It’s like a finger print
Mine and only mine
My little cut.

One chunk missing
I never started it
I’ve only helped for it to remain
On the knuckle of my finger
The deep red in the center
Moves to be lighter
Still red none the less
This hole of red
Within a mound of purple
Bumped up around
Bruised from my locker
I’ve pointed it out
But no one knows the truth
My little cut.

My three little cuts
Take a look
So beautiful
So different
All the same
My little cut.
