We drove and drove,
Into the dark night,
Engulfed in a black sheet,
We turned,
And turned,
And turned again,
In the city of Golden,
Leaving behind a maze.
To the crummy gas station,
Grabbing pops and cakes,
We sat in the car,
Singing and laughing.
“Head home now†she said,
Back into the black night,
Back to our city,
Back to our house,
Back to normal.
