Don't Judge If You Don't Know(cutting)

Please read this all the way through whether your a cutter, think cutting is stupid and crazy, or have no opinion. it really came from the heart and I'm not just saying this for myself but for all the people who cut because they are truly hurt inside, and are accused of just wanting attention...That just really gets me, I read some posts where people were talking about that and I couldn't stop thinking about it.. it really upset me.

I'm not starved for attention
Cause I'm not proud of what I do
But if you simply label me a cutter
Than you haven't got a clue
No I'm not asking for your pity
You don't have to be so mean
Please think before you label me
"Just another troubled teen"
I'm not begging for compassion
You don't have to understand
I'm not dying for your help
If you don't want to hold my hand
I'm not screaming for sympathy
You don't have to be humane
But don't you dare judge me
I already feel shame
I'm not craving your attention
When I slit my wrists
But I can tell if I went
I'd hardly be missed
So stop acting so smart
Don't pretend you know all
If you've never walked in my shoes
Or taken my fall
Besides you don't care
So stop being rude
You can shut up with your comments
And bad attitude
Don't call me selfish
Don't you dare
How can you accuse me so wrongly
When you don't even care
Yes I am a cutter
And I hate what I do
But the knife is more faithful
Than people like you
So if you can see past your opinion
That would be great
And if you can't
You've made a mistake
Then your the one who needs pity
Cause you turned the other cheek
Didn't give me a chance
Just labeled me "Freak"
To all of the cutters
We may feel much pain
They can say what they want to
But we're not insane
We know what we're doing
And we're just trying to cope
So hold your heads high
And never loose hope!

I want to make it clear that i am in no way "encouraging cutting" it's not a good thing to do and though it may feel good for a moment it can ruin a whole life. but i've been through it and want to defend it because there was nothing that hurt more then people making fun of it or making wrong assumtions like they actually knew anything about it. until you've been through it, you don't. you can try to help but please...don't be cold and rude. if thats all you have to offer then please just say nothing..
