Letter of Goodbye (The Guy's POV)

The day that I left her
I felt the heavens cry
I told her our love was over
That it was time to say goodbye

It was the hardest thing I ever did
It was pain beyond pain
To see the hurt in her eyes
Her tears mixing with the rain

I wanted to pull her into my embrace
To hold her close and tight
But I knew I had to let her go
So I stopped myself with all my might

I fought hard to stop the tears
That kept forming in my eyes
I couldn't let her see my pain
I couldn't let her see me cry

Without another word I turned around
And started to walk away
I could no longer control my tears
It came down faster than the rain

I wanted so much to turn around
To see her face once more
But I knew that if I saw her
Leaving would be harder than before

I couldn't let her know the truth
I knew it'd be too unbearable
So I walked away to protect her
Whom I loved with my heart and soul

I wanted her to find happiness
To forget me and move on
That way it wouldn't hurt as much
When she finds out that I'm gone

I'd dream of her every night
Of her beautiful face and smile
She was why I feared to leave
She was what made my life worthwhile

I felt it was my time to go
As a feeling crept into my heart
So I wrote to her one last letter
Before I had to depart

The letter contained all the answers
Said everything I didn't say
I told her the reason why I left
The reason I couldn't stay

I said to her my last goodbye
In the letter that expressed my love
Letting her know I will watch over her
As her guardian angel above…
