A Promise I Couldn't Keep

by Heather   Mar 29, 2005

I Promised Her One Thing,
That She Would Never Cry,
But Now That She Is Crying,
My Shoulder Is No Longer Dry.

Her Life Is Falling Apart,
She Tries To Get It Together,
But Her Life Will Stay Broken,
From Now Until The End Of Never.

I Watch As She Falls,
Her Life Is Falling Too,
I Promised I'd Be There For Her,
But That Promise Couldn't Stay True.

I Don't Know What Has Happened,
I Don't Know What I Did Wrong,
But Now I Know The Truth,
She's Been Hurting All Along.

Up Until The Point,
When I Thought She Would Not Cry,
I Felt So Sorry When She Did,
I Told Her A Truthful Lie.

She Tries To Forget The Memories,
But The Memories Won't Fade Away,
I'll Never Forget That Promise,
I Made To Her That Day.

I Watch As She Lies On The Floor,
And Then Begins To Weep,
Then I Ask Myself Why I Made,
A Promise I Couldn't Keep.
