The Hope of the Sun Set

by Hannah   Mar 29, 2005

I watch the sun set, lingering on the horizon,
I silently beg that it will stay,
Or at least that it'll take me with it, Because as it disappears, my rays of hope slip away

It's firey breath sinks lower in the sky,
If I wait patiently I'm convinced it'll take me too,
Pull me out of here, away from the world, toward those last streaks of color, and the deepening blue

In that place, there is no reason to worry,
The place where earth meets sky,
I wait for the fading sunbeams to take me there,
Beyond all things, beyond wondering why

The seconds slip by and still I wait, Entranced by the dancing colors, I fall into a daze,
The warm, steady light slowly slides away,
But never stops meeting my gaze

Finally even the last glow has disappeared,
I haven't been taken, haven't crossed through that door,
After all the pleading, I'm still here, but I don't feel like all is lost, For tomorrow..the sun will rise once more

I am not sure exactly what I was thinking about when I wrote this so I would really appreciate it if you commented and told me what it meant to you. Thanks for reading.
