On her way home

Watch daddies little princess run away
Far from her loving home
No time to tie her shoelaces
She's on her way to the real world
With out a dime to her name

Mommies little girl looks at the road ahead
As it starts to pour
The tears blend in with the rain
Back home, where their angel laid, you find a note

Emotion fills their hearts as they read
“I'm going to the city,I won't be coming back”
they say a little prayer to keep their girl safe
by dawn she wakes up on a park bench

her brother counts the months as they pass
wishing his big sister would just be back
But his sister is not the one who taught him how to read
She's a whole new person, all hopped up on weed

Her dad still sits there looking at her picture
If he saw her today, he would not recognize her
She has not been eating, picked up an extra shift
She's done labor to her body, that cant be fixed

She gets no sleep, to busy living it up
Has no time to visit her mother and give her a hug
If only someone would call her family
Tell them she's as happy as can be

It's any other day for her
As she hurries off to work
So fast she does not tie her shoelaces
She trips and she falls
Only to find herself in the arms of a boy

This boy is just like the prince
In the stories her daddy read her
He kisses her and hugs her
Fufills her every wish

She takes his hand
And makes the call
To tell her family
“she’s on her way home”
