Seven roses...

by Sarah-Louise   Mar 30, 2005

Seven roses beside her,
As she lay dead,
With them a note,
And here's what it said.

'A rose for the good times,
A rose for the bad,
A rose for the happiness,
And one for the sad.
A rose for your smile,
A rose for your kiss,
And the very last rose,
To compensate for this.'

They had split up no more than,
Just one week before,
For she'd found a new person,
And she loved him no more.

But if he couldn't have her,
Then no one else would,
So he killed her so greedily,
Like his heart said he should.

To this day he still thinks of,
That woman he did love,
And he prays every day,
That she's looking from above.

But the tears in his eyes,
Mask the smile on his face,
For that love he once felt,
Could not be replaced.

Great poem. It has a new kick to it; I haven't really read anything like this theme before.

    Wonderfully imagined.

    5/5.
