YOU DONT UNDERSTAND

by kat   Mar 31, 2005

Standing here thinking about things in the past
that remind me of you-
things that you no longer think of

I'm standing here thinking of places we used to go
remembering your soft skin,
your pearl white teeth, your soft and tender kiss,
and the warmth of your sweet embrace

I'm standing here remembering how much I still love you
only to realize that you no longer feel the same

I'm standing here remembering when we said good-bye
although time after time I've tried to make you realize
that I want you to be the one

But what you don't understand is that I was there for you
when others turned their backs on you

But yet you don't see that I would do anything
to be in your hopes, your future, and possibly your dreams

But see, what you don't understand is that I took you back
time and time again even when you didn't deserve it

But what you don't understand is that I was there for you
when your educational goals didn't go as previously planned

What you fail to see is that I could be there after your
one night stands have come to an end

After your boys don't want to see you again

Even when you're tired of the weed and cigarettes
that are killing your lungs then won't you see that I'm the one?

The only one to care for you, the only one
who's been there through and through

Despite the things you put me through I still love you but you...
you still don't understand
