Sweet Country Summers

by AllHailTheHeartbreaker   Mar 31, 2005

*This has been used as a country song and as a poem, and yes - I did write it.

Sittin' on the tailgate
Watchin' fireworks
The July heat's rising
So the guys take off their shirts
Just a bunch of country kids
Laughin' 'til it hurts
The guys are tanned and muscled
Too bad some are jerks...

It's been the perfect summer
Everyone gets along
We're an odd group
But our bond is strong
We're just havin' fun
Not doin' anything wrong
The sky's flashin' and a-boomin'
And we're singin' our song...

Sweet country summers
Watchin' the wind blow by
Sweet country summers
Go so fast and we don't know why.

Sammie and Danny
Haven't said a word all night
Lord only knows
They must've had another fight
Kate and Jake are cuddled up
All nice 'n tight
While the fireworks are flashin'
All blue, red and white...

The fireworks are over
And without any delay
We all pile out of the truck
Not really knowin' what to say
So we say good-bye
Get in our cars 'n drive away
The end of another
Perfect summer day.

Sweet country summers
Watchin' the days fly by
Sweet country summers
Go so fast and we don't know why.

No matter what happens
We know one thing is true
We're always be together
No matter what we do
Country kids stick together
Forever, through 'n through
We're here for one another
For them, me and you.

Sweet country summers
Watchin' the years pass us by
Sweet country summers
Go so fast and we don't know why.

~Dedicated to "the group"~
~Me, Sarah, Warner, Billy, Jordan, Kellie, Jake, the other Jake, and "Trooper" (when we figure out what Trooper's real name is, then I'll post that ;))~
