Independence day

by rainbowfairy   Aug 20, 2003

I knew it was coming you know.
The way you wouldn't look me in the eye
The passion I felt missing when we kissed
I felt it building inside me
Inside you
I felt it when we were standing right next to each other,
As fireworks lit up the night sky.
It felt like you were on the other side of the earth
I knew then that things were ending,
Things would never be the same
But now I see that is a good thing,
Because you showed me the dark nature of a woman
You showed me how love can blind you to the truth
It's funny how Independence day can be the best day and the worst one at the same time,
But for all the wrong you did to me, Michelle, I have to thank you for showing me the truth after all the lies, and I have to thank you for giving me my independence back.

This isn't a poem, just a message to girl who I used to love. If you ever read this Michelle, I want you to know that I am at peace with what happened. The things you did, and I know everything now, will come back to haunt you one day. I hope you are ready.
