Hippies in the Park Parade

by They Call Me Megan   Apr 2, 2005

Turn off the lights and let’s pretend
Like the hippies in the park parade
Turn the lights back on and let’s face reality
Like the fighters of the blood-stained ground

Kick the bucket over, spill the beans
Like the jokers of the three ring circus
Put the bucket right side up to save yourself
Like the peace-makers of the 19th century

Point your finger at the innocent
Like the followers of the damned political parties
Take your accusation back and apologize
Like the helpers at the retirement center

Stand here next to me in silence
Like the statues of the Greek museums
Join me in the shouts, jumps, and twirls
Like the hippies in the park parade
