Standing on my toes
Whispering sweetly, innocently
Into his ear
Hoping he'll hear me
Not through his mind
But through his heart.

Wrapping my arms around his neck
Giggling and murmuring his name
Just to hear it
Wanting him to say mine
And then I hear it...
'Jake...' I whisper, 'Kate...' he whispers.

Tilting my head back
Laughing to the sun-lit summer sky
At the joy of being alive
Looking into his eyes
Finding happiness I've never known
As we exchange 'I Love You's' in quiet, excited tones.

There's so much the future holds
Some things we'll never, ever know
But until then

We'll forget about the rest of the world
