Dear Mom

Hey Mom, for Christmas time this year,
I decided to give you a look into how I feel
And let you know,
That writing is something that always helps me deal.

Some of these poems are mine,
Some have been borrowed to allow you to see,
That sometimes I am happy and sometimes I am sad,
But at all times, I am still me.

Some are about life,
Some are about love,
Some are about secrets,
Some are about the stars above.

No matter what the poem reads,
To me it means something essential.
Whether my mood is a ray of sunshine,
Or a passing cloud that’s rains are torrential.

Most of these poems may seem negative,
But that is because sadness makes it easier to write,
To put into words how I feel and why
Is easier than pouring my energy into a fight.

Some seem positive, and that is because
Something that is special in my life was said or done
Someone who loves me showed me they cared,
Or I had a time of unreal fun.

Crazy though it may seem,
Not all of these poems are real,
Not everything said is true,
They may just be something I wish, or just how I feel.

I hope that this will help you
To understand what is going through my mind,
To understand what you have seen or heard,
And realize that it is just myself I am looking to find!
