Her mistake

by burningtears   Apr 4, 2005

Her heart and soul are numb
terrified of what she's become
her eyes are raining crimson tears
still she can see it crystal clear

shattered in front of her on the floor
something she cannot ignore
the tiny pieces, he heart they do make
but scattered, they exemplify her mistake

she took a chance, gave him her heart
gave him the power to tear her world apart
let him into her mind and her soul
now she's spinning out of control

losing everything she's ever known
pushing people away until she's alone
consumed by emotions and end she must find
she can't make sense of what's in her mind

everyday a little farther she'll fall
in this vast world she feels so small
there is no one to explain
how to live with this incessant pain

it haunts her every waking moment and her dreams
there is no one to hear her screams
she wants so much to give up, to quit
but she hasn't the courage to end it

if she lives, she lives alone
with nothing but a mask shown
to the world outside her own head
these lonely waters she'll always tread

should she continue to stay alive
and try her best to survive
or should she escape what she cannot deny
and say her final goodbye

to the torment she sees no end
her past she will forever defend
now she must decide
will her life end in suicide

so here she sits, alone in the dark
debating: should she dare embark
upon this journey to end it all
for if she does, no farther will she fall
