For us he picked up His cross
Offered suffering to Christ
He would say "Come follow Me"
Leading the way for the world to see
As for words I have none
The dignity of mankind he held high
No matter your belief
No matter nationality
In all of us he saw God’s image
He is gone he has passed
In sadness and love we celebrate
God gave us such a gift
Such a fair and humble man
Elected he said "God will forgive you for what you have done to me"
When called home his final word was "Amen" meaning so be it.
Even in death he shall communicate
His body lies in state
Millions shall pay homage
Larger in death than life
Forever remembered, a simple man,
A great man, a visionary, a man of love
He never dreamed or wished to be Pope
Many world leaders came to him
Talking, offering advice, never condemning
All were equal before him
Billy Graham stated "He is in heaven"
In Christ lies all of our hope
