Narcotic Lullaby

by Lyra   Apr 6, 2005

No, my love, don't turn out the light
Don't give me to the quiet
I've hidden from it all of the night
Now devoured inside it
A thousand whispers circle my head
None to comfort or guide me
I toss and thrash, encaged in my bed
A battle raging inside me
Night mares come on silvery wings
To dance in pleasure at my tears
They tell me secrets of tormenting things
And poison each dream with heart's deep fears
By the morning's light, I'll be halfway to insanity
Where no nightmares can reach me
And I'll know a good night's sleep
