Second Chance

A second chance, could it be?
Yes it could...and it's happening to me.
You have given me a chance to make things right.
To see what might have been had I not taken flight.

You wanted to be with me so long ago...six years to be exact.
Back then, I was just trying to keep my sanity intact.
I was not ready to get romantically involved.
Because I had not fully evolved,
Into the person I wanted to be.

Over time I have grown, as have you,
From the wallflower you remember
To someone who lost in love twice before September.
Now that these loves are out of my life.
There has been less romantic strife.

One thing I have learned from all of this
Is that it does not feel good to be dissed.
For it can leave a person extremely p#@$ed.

That is why I am taking the time now,
And trying to figure out how,
To be patient and let love find me.

I will not waste this chance I have been given.
For I believe another chance, especially one at love, is a gift from heaven.
