An unfinished poem...and a broken friendship

You are a very important person to me
And I am just wondering why you can't see
How much I care about you
This is undeniably true
You are a friend that often eases my strife
You are a beacon in my otherwise uninteresting life

So, when you didn't talk to me one day, I wondered why
I wondered so much, I started to cry
What could I have done...what could it be?
That suddenly you stopped talking to me

So, I e-mailed you and asked why
Then sent it to you, waiting for a reply
Not expecting one, yet scared to death
Scared that our friendship might come to an end
That I had done something I could not mend.

You e-mailed me back, I was surprised
I really could not believe my eyes
In this you said you needed your space
I understood, but could not believe,
That you needed me to give you a reprieve
