Sinner's Confusion Part 1

by Eden   Apr 9, 2005

(This poem is written in the perspective of someone who has always lived a life away from Christianity...The change is too much to bear and he does not know what to do...The second part to this is called Away With You)

------------------------------------
I hate you. I love you. I can’t tear myself from you. To try to would rip me in half. My dark heart severed from my breast. I hate you! I hate the power you hold over me, controlling my tongue and mind with what seems little effort. You laugh at me, yet you smile, too, confusing me. Holding my throat, suspending me over the brink of my sanity. Your moving diffuseness so clever and ever-changing my outlook on life. I love you. You hold me close and protect me from the Light. You make me feel safe in your embrace, in the darkness, hearing nothing but the rasp of your breath and feeling nothing but the gentle folds of your cloak. Robe me in your cloak of evil, that I may escape the Light. But this is wrong. I don’t want you anymore. NO! Stay away! Back from me, my Love. Stay away! Every time I resist you, you come back even more stronger, hands outstretched, threatening to forever shroud me in darkness. Sinking lower to your realm, yet higher towards my death.
That’s it! No more confusion! Send me all the plagues of this world, if only to rid myself of you!
But, if I rid myself of you, what will become of me? I do not know. I do not care to know.
Just hold me a little longer from the Light, see it is beginning to break through my sheer cloak of darkness and is beginning to sear my skin. Damn you! Take me away from it! I want the security of Evil! Take me now!

What is left of humanity? Nothing but shame. Let me run from its intoxicating stupor. Encase me in my own coffin, that I may persevere and survive. Little blood is all I need to live on. So feed me, if at all you want me. Let me struggle no more against your strength. Embrace me, as I shall do the same for Thee.
