In loving memory of Jack. . .

by sammi   Apr 9, 2005

I would like this poem to be in loving memory of Jack:

He was getting weaker day by day, the minute or maybe second.
His eyes were now as glassy as of a lifeless creature.
Walking slowly into forever land, falling into a pit they called death
But he didn't know. . .

He'd notice their frowns sometimes or even hear then cry at night.
He would listen so hard sometimes to hear his name being called to.
He asked himself a lot why suddenly pictures of him filled the place
But she didn't know. . .

His stomach would ache sometimes as she cries in pain.
Every bone of his body would hurt as if they were in a battle.
All his joints felt like they were falling apart that now he could hardly move
But he didn't know. . .

One day he fell to the ground in pain,as loud screams filled the house.
His family came rushing, then looked at him like they expected it all.
They shed tears of pain for their father, their husband, their son, their friend.
It will soon become a memory of beauty.
When he had sudden flashbacks of all the whispers;
He wasn't being paranoid after all, he realized.

As his eyes were closing,
Crying he held on to his family,
Begging and pleading, saying he doesn't want to leave.
Tears of pain left their trace on his face
As he realized the truth.

He was living in denial.
A part of him knew but didn't want to adk,
For asking would remove all doubts.
And now he shall become a memory
Of beauty, happiness, smiles, pain. . . and tears.

Now he shall become a memory of a man. . . .

. . . . Who just didn't know.
