Murder

by Michelle   Apr 10, 2005

The blood has dried,
the death is now complete,
the ground is stained
the carcass lifeless
no more beating heart
no more tears of joy
no more sounds of laughter
just a grimace of pain,

Etched onto the hardened face,
white as that of marble
drained of life itself
eyes glazed as if in a trance
still open and screaming why
a shocked emblem of fear
the hands stretching out
to try and stop death itself.

Unable to achieve understanding
reasoning why beyond all hope,
lying down to feed the earth
and the wild animals that roam,
sniffing the air expectantly
taste of blood like copper on lips
ripping the body with ferocious carnage
dregs of meat being stripped from bones.

Alive this body once was
enjoying life from day to day,
along came the blade sharp and long
and took all of your dreams away,
into the stomach the death was slow,
full of pain you fell down
not once did you utter a sound
as your life slowly bled away.

You have been taken from your place in life,
lost all that you had deserved,
one small instant in the infinity of time
removed you from this earth,
your body is asleep once more
never to awaken to see the sun,
death has claimed you for his own
the next, a bullet from a gun.
