Mascaraed eyes
outlined the diamond tears
i cried.
rivers down my cheeks
silhouettes of black
rumination of your iniquities
stories of my past.
pictures of you
are ripped and burned
scattered on the floor
love letters and cards
from Saint Valentines
remind me of what we weren't.
i just can't see
why it wasn't meant to be,
the story of you and me.
the truth is that now
i'm lost without your light
and i just can't get this
to seem real to me.
the blackest tears can't convince me
that we were never right.
but if i die tomorrow
i want you to know that it was you
who was the highlight of my life.
