Drunken Tears

by David Paul   Apr 11, 2005

The thrill of the ride is on my mind,
When did you become so blind,
You drove us into the hellish abyss,
You gave into temptation as death gave you a kiss.

I tried to say we don't need to go,
Your parents won't mind if your safe you know,
But stubborn you didn't want to be late,
I know if I'd tried harder I could have changed fate.

The crash heard around the world is what it was called,
The news papers gave my account starting when the car stalled,
How we rolled four times as the car was ripped through,
Then when we stopped how it had landed on you.

I will never forget how you cried at that farm,
Never forget how you died in my arms,
Your last tear flowed as life left your face,
With eyes still open staring into space.

I now treat each day with more respect,
Remember your death so I never forget,
Yes in life everyone must thrive,
But whatever you do don't drink and drive.

Never happened to me and I thank god for that.
