My Masks

by *Amanda*   Apr 13, 2005

Today I woke up and had a choice,
Which mask should I pick?
I have hundreds, no thousands, they're easy to mix
They change accordingly
Which one do you want?
I'll bend over back wards
I'll change everyday
Can you still look at me
Knowing I'm fake?
I'm trying so hard
I'm falling behind
I'm so busing faking a smile
I have no room to cry.
My grip with reality, is slipping
I can't be myself because I don't know who I am
That's what I get for hiding
My whole life I've just ran.
I'm drowning,
Still breathing
Trapped in my own desperate tears
I can't show you how I feel, I put on the mask to hide away my fears.
So this morning I chose
The mask with a great big smile
It helps me deceive people that I believe
This all is worth while.
I'm afraid so I'll hide
Behind a new mask
For each and every day;
I'm not me, when I smile at you passing by.
