You were there for me

by Miss Rinoa   Apr 15, 2005

She stood at the edge of a barren cliff,
staring out at the ocean before her.
Blends of teal, sapphire, and aquamarine
stretched as far as her eyes could see.

Below, waves smashed onto jagged rocks,
creating a foamy white that called to her,
tantalized her with its salty ocean breath.
She closed her eyes and inhaled.

The sea's unique fragrance filled her lungs, and
a faint breeze embraced her as
she lifted her arms out toward the ocean,
standing tall and at peace with herself; with everything.

For once, she was happy.
For once, she was flying.
For once, she wanted nothing more
than "being" alive and in control.

She rose up on her toes, smiling,
as she leaned herself forward.
But she did not fall.
Oh, she did not fall at all.

From behind her reached
two steady arms around her waist,
holding her, keeping her
safe from the temptations of the world.

Shocked, but not entirely,
she turned to face a pair of eyes
reflecting the ocean behind her,
gazing deep into her own.

He held her there,
his perfect black spikes blowing in the wind.
His sun-kissed skin contrasted her fair tone,
as she rested her head upon his shoulder.

He was no stranger to her.
No, not even close.
She'd seen him before in dreams,
but now they stood together in tranquility.

She whispered to him with sincerity and grace,
while waves endlessly broke upon desolate rocks;
while a delicate breeze stirred life from sand and dirt;
while the sun began its faithful descent,

She whispered, "Thank you."
