Picture of a Girl

by David Paul   Apr 15, 2005

I stare at her face and try to remember,
Who is this person I haven't seen in forever,
Is it my ex or a very good friend,
One that said she would be there till the end,
Is she my cousin who died years ago,
Whoever it is I want to know,
Why is her picture in my wallet,
What made her important to put in my pocket,
Maybe if I read then I will see,
Who this mystery person may be,
I read the text that says, "with loving care,"
"You may not be able to see me but I'm there,"
The name at the bottom looked so familiar,
It was the women I thought of as only a failure,
I remember how she ran away,
Every time we talked she had nothing to say,
But now my perception of her is not the same,
For she alone doesn't deserve all the blame,
I felt so bad for my accusing her,
Her love for me was like a river,
And all I did was push her away,
Now I can't blame her for not wanting to stay,
I just wish that she would give me another try,
It makes me feel guilty how I made her cry,
I'm sorry mom for being mean to you,
You can come back now my anger to wards you is through.

I don't like it as much as the others, but it's really emotional...from the heart...nicely written.

One very small thing...."Maybe if I read the I will see," Something seems to be missing from there. Apart from that I liked it, intelligently written.
