A Local Game

by Ð맆îñ¥   Apr 16, 2005

Victories were had before the noble died out
Injuries of the heart, soul and body
Pushed aside and hitting the ground
Artwork left still shoddy

Shouts, cries in desperate despair
Another loss for a team
‘Wakey, Wakey’ soon dies out
The eyes have lost their gleam

Hands in heads, a rustle of sighs
The players have lost their natural highs
They ask themselves to work harder
Their hopes are killed; its mass murder

A flaw in the line, one man is through
Whispers are out – another one too?
Their chasing him hard, some spirit is given
No one is sure what has made him so driven

The man has made it and the points are ours
The cheers pour out and last for hours
The hopes are rekindled, they could just make it
An opportunity will arise but will they take it?

They laugh once more as they score a try
This time it’s the others who sigh
Ahead of belief, we’re winning the game
Ahead of the past jeers, hurting and shame

Is the silver embedded in the hearts of those men?
The victory is ours thanks to Jamie and Ben
The music is played and joy fills the stands
The voices unleashed carrying out hearts’ demand

New hope has arisen, the future lays bare
They run around madly, laugh with no care.

**Dedicated to my best friend Becky who is a strong Wakefield rintity Fan. Jamie and ben are her two fabourite players. She wanted the names in.**
