Sandy Paths

by Jacklyn   Apr 17, 2005

One set of foot steps in the sand,
But how many have traveled the path?
Many men and women have followed the tracks,
Stepping carefully in the footprints in the sand.

The want of fitting in,
To being just like them,
To step carefully in the sand,
So they don’t stick out as being weird.

It’s the want to have many friends,
But are those friends what you really had in your plan?
Judging you by what you wear,
And exactly how you do your hair.

Do you follow the footprints,
So you’re not labeled “Freak” or “Geek”?
But doesn’t it make you lonely?
Doesn’t it make you just a copy?

Is it so you don’t take the blame?
What you did was someone else’s mistake.
No two minds are the same,
So why is there one path within the sand?

I’ll chose my separate ways,
I’ll chose to make my own mistakes,
But looking at the sand,
There is now two sets of footprints in the path.

~English question about why people follow others and not do what they really want to do. this is my thinking!
