The Bells Of Sleep

by ryan   Apr 18, 2005

Sonorous peals of the faint bells in sleep
Invade on the cryptic play of the deep
And allows the re-birth of life’s stark mortality
Caught in resumption of timely reality

Where history, recorded in yesterday’s hours,
Is challenged with revived neurological powers
And vagaries which then converted earth into hell
Are altered through consciousness brought by a bell

Last night, you were titanic in defeat as you warned
Of the ills of a desolate planet you mourned
For its destiny, bleak from an oracle’s view
Against naivety you tried to vainly subdue

Today is a prospect to revisit again
The cause of discomfort, of protest and pain
And reconcile such balance which allows us to see
Clarity through chaos; the lock with the key

And we conquer mountains and oceans; the harshest terrain
Is made safe as we concede that pleasure brings pain
Which descends on us slowly as days tiredly creep
Towards the sound of the faint bells of sleep.
