Cascading tears

by confusion   Apr 18, 2005

Carefully walking this tight rope
seems to grow thinner with each dawn
no safety harness to save me
feet bleeding, the skin ripped and torn

so cautious not to move quickly
to keep my balance, not to shake
terrified of falling below
into the sea of faces, so plastic, so fake

they stare for a while above
pitiful glances and sorrowful sighs
they've never actually cared to ask
of reason for rivers i cry

instead they just assume and judge
then walk on surrounding ground
as i carry on tip toeing this rope
no place to rest for a while is found

they see my painted mask fading
as it wears from having to fight
they see black tears cascading
as they pretend I'm not in their sight

not daring to express the feelings
compressed deep down in this soul
shying from light as it shines
sucked into this mental hole

each tear falls so far down to earth
splashing into gathering puddles
nothing making sense for too long
a mind that will always be muddled

Oh hun, this was beautiful. The imagery was so good - the tightrope. Am really feelin like that at the mo. The first stanza blew me away:

    Carefully walking this tight rope
seems to grow thinner with each dawn
no safety harness to save me
feet bleeding, the skin ripped and torn

'with each dawn' seemed to really speak to me...im here for you still xxxx
