Sleeping Soldier

by Pygmalion   Apr 18, 2005

In the open fields where the river flows
Under the sunlight while the wind blows
Lies a man in military clothes
On the grass, far from all his foes

The young soldier sleeps with open mouth
While the sun shines in from the south
In his green bed, he feels no pains
Lying silently, as the light rains

His feet are stretched along the herbs
As his cold body no one disturbs
Nature warms up his pale face
He doesn't breath at normal pace

Calm, his dreams don't seem to be too wild
His smile is like the one of an ill child
Sleeping in the sun, his hand on his chest
At ease, he has two red holes in his breast
