Left to go fight in the war
I remember all the things you
Told me like ‘don’t worry im
Still in training im not leaving
Now or later’ I believed you too
I still do, I wish and pray
That one of these days
You come home and call me
Telling me you’re ok and you’re
Unharmed that every things
Gonna be okay cause
You’re home now
I haven’t gotten a call
With you on the other end
Yet reassuring me
All I have left from you
Are e-mails that I read
Once and a while
Every time I do
They bring tears to my eyes
As I sit here writing this poem
Wondering where in the world you
Are just praying for you and your family
As you wished
I just hope day by day that
Soon you will call me
And let me know you’re
Coming home soon
