Only a Memory

One memory and you make me laugh,
The images rushing to my head,
The tears flooding my room,
One memory and I’ve lost control.

The days coming rushing back like a video,
Each moment relived in all its glory,
I hear your voice full of joy,
I cower at your screams of anger.

I know this too will pass,
Soon I will snap back into today,
I see every line in your face,
I feel your touch on every part of me.

One memory and you make me shiver,
The days we spent together are relived,
And then as quickly as it came,
I see you leaving me again.

Thrown back into the cold arms of reality,
I sit here wishing I could stay with us,
But I remember we just couldn’t be,
I have only our memories.
