Silence

by Jiminy   Apr 20, 2005

Silence as the bell tolls,
Silence everywhere.
You watch the minutes creeping by,
Sit, and watch, and stare.
Silence as the flames erupt,
Giving you a start.
They almost rid the coldness,
And the numbness from your heart.
Then everything is still,
Your husband upstairs sleeping.
The voice tells you "NOW! GO!"
Along the hallway creeping.
The door swings wide and cries a sound,
Of people long since left.
A butchers knife comes flashing down,
The movements long and deft.
A mournful cry, a muffled scream,
The body hits the floor.
You won't have to put up with,
That bastard anymore.
You lift your head.
Silence.
