The Spark

by Paul   Apr 21, 2005

The deep dark blackness,
Filling my soul,
Covering it with shadows,
The truth will never show.

The darkness begins to spread,
Straight down to the heart.
Leaving nothing,
No spark.

The shadows rule the mind,
Conquering all that once was mine.
No more shall I laugh with heart,
All I show is great regret.

There once was a smile across my face,
There once was a chuckle after every sentence.
Now its over,
The shadows have taken me.

There is no end,
To the rule of shadows.
My thoughts of happiness rebel,
But end in sorrow.

I hate all and all hates me,
There is no thought,
There is no light.
This is the last spark,
That shows in the night.

In one last hope,
It draws its power,
From the only source,
That isn’t devoured.

The true soul appears at heart,
Never to be forgotten,
Always remaining,
Just waiting to strike.
Waiting for you to light that spark.
