Mask

by Jacklyn   Apr 21, 2005

Behind this mask I cry,
Behind this mask I scream,
But all you can see,
Are dry eyes and pearl white teeth.

Behind this mask is me,
Needed to be freed,
But all you ever see,
Is me pretending to be a stupid fake.

Behind this mask my heart bleeds,
My soul weeps,
But all you can see,
Is a created wall surrounding me.

Behind this mask are dreams,
Are things I wish to achieve,
But all I ever see,
Is a world so cruel and mean.

Behind this mask I hide,
Afraid of a world I won’t survive,
So please stay by my side,
And help take this mask out of my life.

Had flow problems and your rhyme scheme was all over the place.

A few tips for you would be:

    1) stick to one rhyme scheme per poem
    2) count syllables on your hand if you can't do it in your head.
    3) buy a thesaurus (that's not an insult, even I have one)
    4) climax to your conclusion. not only was the ending line out of time, but it was no conclusion to be happy about. you could have dearly used a thesaurus throughout this whole poem.
    5) try using these tips
