I look up,
He's looking back at me.
I smile,
He smiles back.
I laugh nervously,
His smile widens.
We sit in silence for a moment.
He nods to his side
Silently requesting me to move my chair
So that we're sitting nearer to one another.
I smile and grant his request.
He looks smug
And leans back, crossing his arms
Glad to have me next to him.
He moves his foot over
Closer to mine
And looks sideways at me
To analyze my reaction.
I glance sideways at him
And move my foot over
Closer to his
And look back at him
Jutting my chin out a little in youthful taunting.
We continue moving our feet closer together
Until our ankles overlap
His crossing somewhat protecively over mine.
Sitting near each other
So close our elbows touch
And very content with ourselves.
The looks that people give us
As they glance our way
And see our peculiar behavior
Wondering about us
But only sending us questioning looks
Never actually doing any questioning
We never answer their looks
Only rely on our unique and flirty friendship
Which is mostly in silence.
