My Hero

by Natalie   Apr 22, 2005

To all the soldiers in Iraq, who for many years had my back, Fighting for what I thought was Bush, when you wanted to come home they gave you a push, All alone so far from home, sleepless nights, brutal killings and fights, Trying to keep me safe and at the same time not falling from God's grace, My prayers keep you warm, away from all of the evil and harm, Loud noises, gun shots, men being killed, That's all they've got, They want to come home again, safe and sound With their families and friends, This doesn't make any sense, they risk their lives and a pat on the back is all they get,They deserve more for fighting this war, So many dead and so many injured, smashed hearts, broken and tender, I sit at home and wonder how they feel as so many of the men are being killed, In a blink of an eye your life has passed you by, You are all my heroes, but as for Bush, I'll give him a zero, Very few give their life for another man, you've given your life hoping this war will end, so much misery and so much grief, I bet you thought this war would be brief, I love you so much for all you have done, fight them back and don't let them run, Let them know that you mean business, Don't give up because you can win this.

I wrote this epic poem. Our Hero was the title for my group. I did all of the work and we got a 90. I like the poem very much and I was proud of my accomplishments. If any of you don't believe in God or don't agree with my opinions about Bush then I apologize for offending you. Comment and vote
