Darkness

The darkness engulfs me,
the light fades away,
deeper and deeper I go,
each and everyday.

Getting further from the top each time,
no one hears my cries,
my pleads fade with the darkness,
it's a wonder I haven't died.

The scene is so familiar,
I've felt it before,
so I know the game now,
I know the score.
