Those Shied Beholden

by Elizabeth Ann   Apr 23, 2005

Within a world now cast in iron, and all I have thus suffered...I could not tell whence my eyes have been, or how long since these visions bound me.

Is this to be my moral redemption? How to rouse my frozen blood?

When ever since I undertook mine own innocence, and once I shy beholden until I rose immortal, to only just now declare I’m menacing. Why then to live as now remorseful, with no other options but to blame than desire?

Can I live forever knowing that heaven does not want me? Is there at least salvation whilst my soul is maimed? Or is this otherwise not meant for me…one undead whom rakes another’s grave for a lengthy forgiveness.

Could sympathy beguile ye angels, or the sight of an ancient’s paltry tears win your love?

Will I always live but for fear and confusion abreast my self control? Leveling with a nameless empathy, even as I rise beside my moral standard…feeling this unprecedented distinction flanked by whom I thirst?

Bless the sun I cannot bear, from within the shadows I do not dare thine affection, but allow me in good faith to offer my name, to which thee might brand my blight and your earthly blemish.

By name he who begs of you…his name is Genesis.

Many of us make blunders in our youth....and in the greater fantastical sense, immortality seems like a good idea at first.
In my writing "they" always realize that in their haste, that they will live forever alone.
And that's to say of those they had to leave behind.

And I'm not going anywhere ;)

You are so intelligent and inspirational to me, each piece gives new life and justice to you as person... You're amazing. I'm just at loss of words so I'll stop rambling =)

Thanks for the feedback! As you can tell I've never taken a poetry course. As it stands I simply justify its lack by labeling it "free-style" *smirks*.
