A Poem For Anyone That's Had to Say Goodbye

by Tara   Sep 8, 2003

He held her hand as they walked to his car,
They knew it was over, the end no longer far.

She picked him a flower to put on his seat,
With tears in their eyes, they let them meet.

She was in love like a sweet summer day,
The night destined to fall as the sun went away.

He loved her so true, placed his hand on her cheek
And opened his mouth, the words hard to speak.

She tried not to cry, he was all that she knew
It was time to go, she said she loved him too.

Her lips met his as they said goodbye,
Trying so hard just not to cry.

In his truck, he held the flower to his heart,
This was the end, their new beginning apart.

Dark and cold, the sun hid its face
From this memory that nothing would erase.

She’s never been the same since that fateful day,
Real life began that moment that he had to drive away.
